Summary of the Project
In November 2022, Guangzhou was in desperate need of emergency housing facilities. To improve the capacity of epidemic prevention, the Guangzhou Baiyun District Emergency Isolation Center was built in the former Shatai Freight Market.
The Modular Isolation Hospital project area is about 150,000 square meters, with a total construction area of nearly 80,000 square meters. When finished, it had 3,084 isolation rooms and some 12,700 beds for emergency housing.

All portable container houses are manufactured using large-scale assembly line methods, with internal electrical circuits and water and electricity pipelines prefabricated in the factory. On-site, only hoisting and positioning and pipeline connection are required; no on-site trenching or wiring is needed. With the hoisting and positioning of a single container on site taking only 10 minutes, this improves the overall installation efficiency by over 50% compared to traditional temporary construction.
Convenient Transportation, Fast Turnover
The housings of the flat pack container can be folded or transported as a whole, which can realize large-scale transport volumes, high space utilization, and easy and rapid large-scale deployment.
The sealing performance is good and meets the epidemic prevention standard
The seams of the container units are equipped with high-quality sealing strips that guarantee excellent airtightness. Each isolation container unit has a full bathroom, negative pressure ventilation, and is self-contained. The bathroom is equipped with mechanical exhaust fans to ensure that the airflow flows directionally from the clean area to the contaminated area so as to prevent cross-infection effectively.
Flexible combination, modular design
The detachable container units can be connected in multiple directions horizontally and vertically to form functional units of different sizes as required, adapting to various isolation space configurations such as single rooms and double rooms, meeting diverse isolation scenario requirements.
